Membrane Filters
Externally Mounted Membranes Offer Convenience and Safety.
High MLSS Concentrations. Membrane filters replaced secondary clarification in the conventional activated sludge flow scheme. They allow bioreactors to operate at high MLSS concentrations and eliminate concerns of inadequate gravity settling.
External Is Better. External membranes offer easier access for maintenance and repair. Unlike immersed hollow fiber membranes, the external tubular membranes are more rugged and do not require specialized hoists, dip tanks, backwash systems and air scouring equipment.
Operator Safety. Mounted at ground level, operators can maintain these systems without lifting the membrane or suspending themselves over an open tank. Confined space entry concerns are also eliminated.
Consistent and Reliable. Membrane filters offer consistent and reliable results due to their superior design:
- UF membrane filters act as a physical barrier retaining solids and producing clear reusable permeate
- Saves space by eliminating older style clarifiers which require more space
- Returns biomass to the bioreactor tanks for additional efficient breakdown of organics
- Tubular non-clog design reduces cleaning requirements.
